Ettrick Forest Archers are a longbow archery club who promote the traditions of the Archers of Ettrick Forest. We offer traditional archery to members of the community currently from 12 to 82 years of age.

We teach the basic art of archery and arrow making and take part in national and international contests organised by the British Longbow Society.

We are members of Club sports Ettrick and Lauderdale, the Selkirk Sports Hub and are a Border Sports and Leisure (Live Borders) accredited club.

We provide healthy outdoor activity for members of the community and often do ‘come and try’ demos for schools, corporate Groups and local Fairs (if dates do not clash with Club or BLBS competitions).

The principal aim of the club however remains the promotion of the traditional two-way shooting of the Longbow as per the rules and governance of the British Long Bow Society, to which the club is affiliated.

We are based at Thirladean on the Philiphaugh  Estate where we shoot by the kind permission of Sir Michael Strang-Steel (see map of location attached).

Our shooting field is one of the best in the country and we shoot distances from 20 yards to 180 yards during the season, which runs from March to October.

During the winter months we hire a Hall at the Queens Centre in Galashiels where we shoot 20 yard indoor competitions.

Club days are normally Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons.  For further information see our contacts and officials section or e-mail Ettrickforestarchers@hotmail.co.uk

Please feel free to browse our Web page or visit our face-book page under “ Ettrick Forest Archers Selkirk”.

The club has qualified first aiders one of whom is PVG’d and a Child protection officer who has undertaken training and is also is PVG’d.

Fun for all the family. ETTRICK FOREST ARCHERS
